I’m writing this today as both my company and life are at a crossroads. I’ve been “on my own” for nearly six years, and am facing the very real possibility of being forced to re-enter the world of Corporate America, 9-5 jobs, and water cooler talk. And I’m not entirely sure I’m cut out for it.
Over the course of the last six years, I’ve sniffed the scale of entrepreneurial success I’d always dreamed about, lived like a king, managed hundreds of employees, fought with business partners, and struggled with depression and uncertainty.
In all likelihood, 2012 will be the make or break year for my entrepreneurial dreams. Neither you nor I know the outcome.
This will be more of a book than blog. However, unlike your latest Amazon purchase, this will take place “live” and in real time. And it will be real. I’ve experienced the pains and pleasures shared by new business owners, and learned what it takes to survive. I could easily blow smoke, feign easy success, try to sell books, and make this some sort of how-to guide.
- I will start with some background, and eventually bring the story to present day.
- I will change some names along the way to “protect the innocent”.
- By the time I’m done, the story will have unfolded, and we’ll know where we stand.
Regardless of your level of interest in my own personal story, I think you’ll find some insights into what to do, and what not to do, when launching a business.
